Marsol expands beyond Middle East

UK modular docking systems manufacturer VersaDock has appointed Marsol International to expand beyond its current territories as the central distributor for the company’s products in the Middle East. Marsol, which has been the distributor for VersaDock for the last six years, is now expanding its collaboration into the Indian Ocean, including the Maldives and Seychelles. The company will continue to cover the UAE and Gulf States. Based in Dubai, Marsol offers

the VersaDock range of modular pontoons as part of its specialist product offer, targeting a number of areas such as leisure and residential applications. Marsol will focus on sales and

sailing activities in the region such as Oman Sail, Extreme Sailing Series, world championships and youth training. In this respect, VersaDock’s range of systems is suitable for keeping vessels from youth dinghy fleets out of the water and can also provide solutions for temporary and permanent dockside hospitality. “We are pleased to be able

to include VersaDock’s modular systems as an important part of our product offer and identified a need within the commercial market for such a product,” commented Francois Coetzer of Marsol. “The versatility of the layouts and choice of dock system, along with the advanced design and integrity of the systems means VersaDock is highly suited to the challenges of demanding maritime operations here in the Middle East.”

In general, established tourist harbours along the Eastern Adriatic coastline of Croatia, Montenegro and Slovenia are still enjoying positive growth following the strong increase in demand from yachts fleeing the Italian coast in 2012. Even today, many yacht-owners continue to favour the comfortable and well- organised berths on the opposite shore, preferring the efficient Croatian harbours rather than the bureaucratically-complex and often costly moorings along the Italian coast. Current projects are diverse

and include the extension of new moorings, which has favoured the Ingemar Group, whose brand of floating pontoons is well-known in the region.

On the Istrian peninsula near

Pola, the important marina of Luka Volme has again been enlarged and at Novi Vinodolski, against the background of the Gulf of Quarnero, a new leisure harbour is in the final

construction phase. On the island of Krk, where Ingemar installed steel pontoons on floating concrete units with wooden walkways some time ago, a series of new facilities are nearing completion for the local Port Authorities. In the meantime, the Milan-

based maritime engineering group is currently completing an important assignment on the Eastern Adriatic: Porto Montenegro is constantly expanding following significant improvements over the last few years, the 2015 award for the best moorings for superyachts and the installation of two imposing floating breakwaters, which delineate the new harbour area to protect the pontoons for maxi yachts. In Slovenia, Ingemar has

supplied new king-size floating pontoons for megayachts to Marina Port Rose, thus increasing the already ample moorings available for high-end nautical tourism.
