20 NATCHEZ ON THE WATERFRONT

can be very important to the bottom line. The only limit to non-

traditional profit centres is one’s imagination However, they need to be handled in a meaningful manner and be delivered better than and beyond customers’ expectations. Boat-owners are always looking for a bargain, but are also willing to pay for what they perceive as value.

Floating sauna for Scandinavian marinas

Taking advice from Dan Natchez on seeking non-traditional profit centres, Scandinavian marinas should investigate the possible benefits to their revenue and their berth-holders of the latest innovation from Marinetek. This is SaunaBoat – a variation on the traditional sauna that can be moored to a pontoon or quickly moved to another location if the berth is required. Developed for

Marinetek’s impressive private customer base

in Finland and Sweden, where around a thousand sauna-loving Scandinavians buy Marinetek villa pontoon moorings every year, the new concept would also be an attractive profit centre for the region’s marinas. Available in two sizes and with

a host of additional extras, SaunaBoat

combines a floating terrace and traditional Finnish wood- burning sauna with a boat, when registered in the EU with the necessary CE certificate. For larger gatherings, Marinetek

offers the SaunaBoat 14, a 10.2 m boat with 14 sq m of space. This is divided into two rooms (a sauna and dressing room) and a separate toilet cabin. Able to host up to 12 people, it is flexible and sufficiently

spacious for occasional overnight accommodation. Externally, it boasts a good-sized terrace with space for sunbathing and a barbecue. The smaller model 10, at 8.3 m

in length with 10 sq m of space, is ideal for family use and, like the SaunaBoat 14, can be fitted with a sleeping cabin instead of sauna if preferred. It also enjoys plenty of outside deck area. Cabins for both models are of timber construction and sit on wood decking. The cabin is mounted on a hot-dipped steel-framed platform built using Marinetek’s proven pontoon technology. The SaunaBoat is strong, light

in weight and can be transported by road if necessary. Optional extras include shore power connections, solar panels, LED lighting and a grey water tank. Marinetek info@marinetek.net www.marinetek.net
