Glenwood is a DEFRA approved collection centre. In September last year, Ryan Joyce, son of Moss Joyce of Rock Island Stud, joined the team at Glenwood. Rock Island has a high reputation in Ireland for producing top class performance Connemaras and also specialise in loose jumping, having won the loose jumping competition at Clifden in 2006. Each year they travel the length and breadth of Ireland buying good quality foals and

youngsters with good bloodlines to produce and sell on. They have a huge range of ponies for sale and also foal their own mares. They have built up large amount of clients who buy in the UK as well as Ireland. Soon after arriving, Ryan showed the Glenwood Welsh D young stallion Abergavenny Welsh Comet and stood champion, and a little later collected a second championship at the foal show with a connemara colt Strike a Chord by Skellorn Harrison x Princess Grace. Comet has a great future ahead of him and with Glenwood’s Connemara stallions Eastlands Hollybrae and the good selection of other ponies to show, the whole team is looking forward to the 2016 showing and stud season. Pony stallion by Whalton Caruso out of Whalton Mayfly from the famous Whalton ‘C’ line has been standing at Glenwood, but has now gone over to the Emerald Isle to stand at the Rock Island Stud and already has some very interested clients. He will also be shown; he is a full brother to Mighty Fly who won and was champion at HOYS more than once. In addition, further cementing the link between the two studs, a lovely two year old colt has come from Rock Island to Glenwood who will be shown this year and a three year old will follow in the near future. Some of the stallions from Glenwood Stud will be pleased to meet visitors at the Northern Stallion Showcase on March 20th.
