Shearwater Insurance and British Dressage become partners
James Lawton, Shearwater founder and Managing Director, confirmed: “Shearwater Insurance is thrilled to announce that it is now the first ever official partner of British Dressage. We’ve had a great relationship over the years supporting the Shearwater British Dressage Young Horse series. As a company, we look to support a variety of equestrian disciplines and help to push them, along with other organisations, into the limelight they deserve.” Shearwater’s involvement includes status as the official supplier of member insurances, sponsorship of the ever- popular Dressage Young
Horse Championships and exclusive insurance marketing opportunities in the sport as a ‘tier one’ sponsor. The partnership will also give Shearwater year-round sales and marketing opportunities across all of BD’s activity, a closer alignment with BD and members, allow the company to use the title ‘Official Partner’ and target campaigns within BD’s communication outlets. To celebrate its new standing, Shearwater has offered all members a 10% on its comprehensive range of equestrian insurances, so if you’re a British Dressage member, take a look.
Heather Galbraith recognised in New Year Honours
British Eventing has confirmed the recognition of The Honourable Heather Galbraith in the New Year Honours List, with the award of an MBE for her Services to Equestrianism. Heather has provided Barskimming Estate in Ayrshire, Scotland, free of charge, for nearly sixty years, for equestrian pursuits enjoyed by numerous organisations including The Pony Club, Riding Club and British Eventing. First run in 1959, 2016 will see over 55 years of the Eglinton British Eventing one day event, which is hosted at the Barskimming Estate. Heather has maintained the equestrian facilities out of her own funds and every year invests considerably to uphold its standing as a venue to stage competitions and events.
A British Dressage listed judge for some 40 years, Heather has also ridden at the highest level in Eventing during the 1950’s and 60’s and also been successful in both the show ring and show jumping arena. Passionate about racing and hunting and a former Point to Point jockey, Heather now takes great pleasure in watching her home bred flat race horses. Alongside her dedication to equestrian sport Heather also worked as a full time physiotherapist. British Eventing Chief Executive, David Holmes, commented; “It is wonderful to see Heather awarded with an MBE in the 2016 New Year Honours. Without incredible organisers like her our sport simply would not run and we are hugely grateful for her commitment and enthusiasm.”
