the equine bursary Bucas

Recuptex Therapy Rugs

Bucas is synonymous with technical equine rugs and for good reason too! A collection of technical horse rugs ensure that your horse is suitably dressed, no matter what the weather or occasion throws at you! This great tradition of pioneering ‘intelligent’ horse rugs continues and the product range today includes a greater choice of high performance products than ever before. A brand new Recuptex Therapy rug not only prevents numerous medical problems but can also help treat a vast array of ailments such as: Arthritis, Muscle soreness, Soft tissue damage, Wither soreness and Kissing Spine. The webbing acts like a Faraday Cage, reflecting the magnetic fields created inside the body. By reflecting these fields back into the body it helps stimulates blood circulation and oxygen flow in the horse’s body and back, which reduces both swelling and inflammation and promotes faster healing. Bucas Recuptex Therapy rug is the ideal choice for treating horses with chronic arthritis or back problems, helping warm up muscle before work and accelerate the recovery process naturally and non-invasively. The patented Snap-lock magnetic front and internal surcingles keep the rug in place and neck and rear attachments mean it can be attached under any Bucas rug which has attachment points for a Bucas Combi Neck. Sizes: 115 – 165 / 5’0 – 7’2 Colour: Navy/Silver Price: RRP £139.

Three new stables at the Clarksons’ yard are already occupied by livery clients

a lot of fun riding through a great exercise. It very quickly improves everything required to jump well: rhythm, suppleness and quality of canter and in Joe’s case steering.

At home we have completed three new stables and welcomed three new livery horses. The new tack/storage room is taking shape and will very quickly be in full working order. Our new portable LED arena lights have been used for the first time and are surprisingly efficient, giving enough light to allow us to get horses exercised after dark when we need to and a great bonus for my liveries who are at work during light hours. Roll on the spring for some lighter nights.

The weather has not been very helpful in my quest to teach outdoors on the top of a hill! I think we have postponed and rearranged sessions more often than they have actually been taught and most sessions have ended up being flatwork as keeping jumps standing has been completely out of the equation. Back on the yard, inevitable boredom has got Henry’s mind working on overdrive and he has taught himself to open his door bolts. Not only that but he seems to

have given Joe instructions as to how to do the same too. I met Henry munching our lawn at 2am one morning when I went investigate the reason for a lot of door banging. Later on at a more sociable hour, Joe took a walk out of his box up to the cattle shed at the top of the yard and not content with that, he decided it would be a good idea to swim in the slurry pit which was filled with a combination of rainwater and slurry at a depth of around 2ft. Looking coyly at me trying to catch him and with a glint in his eye, he went in belly deep, rugs and all. Thank goodness he could have a hot shower!

Georgina was privileged to be asked to be a rider for the Harry Meade Demonstration at Park End at the beginning of February. She coped admirably with the demanding exercises Harry used to demonstrate why it is necessary to have your horse “in front of the leg”, how to ride with a lengthening rein so as not to interfere with the horse and use your lower leg and lower centre of gravity created by the correct shortened stirrup length, so you’re not pivoting on your knees, hence you can secure a correct position for cross country riding. The horse has evolved to be able to assess jumps at speed for himself
