A BARGOED care home was “jumping” on Friday when it celebrated the 100th birthday of resident Matilda Ryan. Mrs Ryan was joined by
her family and friends at Bargoed Care Home to cel- ebrate her 100 years with entertainment from a local singer, a buffet and cake. The mayor of Caerphilly County Borough Council, Cllr David Carter, and the mayoress arrived at the care home in the morning to wish the centenarian a happy birthday. Mrs Ryan, who moved to
the care home in Heol Far- goed, Bargoed, five years
ago, opened cards from the Queen, the Welsh As- sembly and the Depart- ment of Work and Pen- sions. Yvonne Marsh, manager
of the care home, said: “It went absolutely fantas- tic. Friday afternoon was lovely. We had entertainment
in the afternoon, a gentle- man called Johnny Bevan who was singing all older music for us. The place was jumping. “She had a lot of family around her. “What I thought was
very nice was the family bought some flowers to present to the staff to say thank you. “The family said to us, it
was down to the care and love she had at the care home, which got her to her 100th birthday.”
