cial about a fast estate. It’s in the stance, perhaps, but the Leon ST Cupra 280 looks an absolute peach on its lowered suspension, 19-inch wheels and subtle body kit. The elon- gated back end helps rebal- ance the rear doors versus the hatchback, and if you choose
the Performance Pack you get stunning thin-spoked wheels that save weight and improve the ride and handling. Space and practicality A total of 587 litres below
the luggage cover is not to be sniffed at. Seat claims 13 stor- age spaces. I couldn’t findthem all as I was busy hammering around a race track. For every- day driving you might want to protect the alloy wheels. Behind the wheel The ST is impressively simi-
lar to the hatchback drive, even around Parcmotor Cas- telloli circuit in Spain. With huge grip from wide Bridge- stones – or Michelin Pilots with the Performance Pack – the special physics-defying technology rewards you the harder you push through cor- ners. A vast improvement in the pricey new 6.5-inch screen. Value for money It’s a £995 jump from the five- door to the ST.
Who would buy one? The ST Cupra, fuel costs ex- cluded, has to be one of the fin- est all-round cars on the mar- ket. If you can afford to buy and run it, it’s a purchase you won’t regret.
