OFFSHORE REELS & CABLING

After the meeting and ensconced in the hotel room, he subsequently drew up detailed plans, which in turn highlighted other potential technicalities requiring solutions and hence returned with a contract for additional work. This resulted in Subsea Energy Solutions providing 2.2 tonne buoyance modules – 2.6 metres tall and 1.2 metres in diameter, 6 fabricated clamps and numerous bend restrictor and bend stiffener assemblies.

ONE OF EACH AND MUSHY PEAS? He goes on to say the experience in Newfoundland was one of fascination not only the challenge of this project but also the PR experience. He recounted his clients had kindly invited him to an evening of hospitality – which he wryly goes on to say culminated in a lot of technical talk, but also to undertake an age old tradition in Newfoundland called ‘Screech!’ Somewhat reticent to expand on this tradition I gleaned from him that it involved partaking of the local liquor (rum) and coming face to face with the lips of a frozen cod! He proudly exhibits his certificate on the office wall and believes the frozen cod kissing clinched the 3 extremely valuable contracts.

AND NOW FOR SOMETHING MORE SERIOUS!

You will probably remember when we featured the company in the Dec/Jan 2014 issue we went into detail about the revolutionary cable protection system SUBFLEX Mech-03 Cable protection System. Philip goes on to say they have now received significant interest from some of the large utilities companies…we look forward to reporting on this in future issues!

With the ability to offer a whole suite of services from project management; design, 3D animation to manufacture, assembly, testing, supply and commissioning of standard to bespoke topside and subsea equipment, it allows the company to offer a ‘one-stop-shop’.

It is hard to believe that the company only started in March 2012 with a now a total turnover of £4.5 M – doubling turnover year on year.

FACTOID

It’s always interesting to have facts and figures – one being the total meterage of Subsea Energy Solutions bend restrictors since establishing 2½ years ago to the industry equates to over 500 m of vertebrae bend restrictors – quite an accolade!

IN A NUTSHELL…

It is heartening to hear of such a success story however complacency will never feature in the team’s vocabulary at Subsea Energy Solutions, and all constantly and consistently strive to achieve sustainability, in their development of products and providing an exceptional personal bespoke service – to existing and new clients alike. Philip concludes “…very exciting times ahead indeed - the SES team is on it from the bottom to the top!”
