ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL WIND TURBINE CONNECTION AT TAI HEN
g2 Energy were engaged by Belltown Power Limited, to undertake the civil and electrical ‘balance of plant’ works on a single wind turbine in Anglesey, Wales.
This is an EWT 500kW machine, installed under the Government's ‘Feed in Tariff’ scheme, where the generated electricity is being exported back into the national grid.
PROJECT DETAIL AND LIAISON g2 Energy are an independent connection provider (ICP) providing both contestable and balance of plant works for voltages up to 132kV, as an alternative to the local DNO (Distribution Network Operator). For this project, g2 Energy was responsible for the complete design and construction of the wind turbine foundation, both the DNO & client electrical substations and the associated electrical installation works.
g2 Energy also liaised with the DNO, Scottish Power Energy Networks (SPEN) regarding the 11kV electrical grid connection.
CIVIL WORKS UNDERTAKEN INCLUDED… • Civil design and construction of the wind turbine foundation, including cable ducting and reinstatement
• Civil design for the client-side GRP substation
• Design of the access track and crane pad • Earthworks and construction of the access track and crane pad
• Construction of the client-side substation, plus a suitable foundation
• Construction of the SPEN designed brick-built substation
ELECTRICAL WORKS INCLUDED… • Design and installation of the earthing system
• Installation of 800kVa 11/0.690kV transformer
• Electrical design works including single line diagrams
• Supply & installation of an auxiliary low voltage supply at the substation
• Supply and installation, plus terminations and jointing of 11kV cable
• All associated testing CROSSING COUNTRIES
Mabey Bridge, the South Wales based supplier of wind turbine towers, has made the final delivery for the 37MW Clashindarroch wind farm in Scotland ahead of schedule.
The towers are being installed as part of eighteen Senvion MM82 turbines, generating enough clean energy to power over 22,000 homes. The news follows the announcement in May that Mabey Bridge completed the delivery of
fourteen wind turbine towers for Senvion at Goole Fields wind farm in East Riding, Yorkshire.

FINAL TURBINE TOWERS LEAVE MABEY BRIDGE FOR CLASHINDARROCH AHEAD OF SCHEDULE
Planning permission for the Clashindarroch wind farm was granted in December 2010 by Aberdeenshire Council, with preliminary construction work beginning in June 2013. The wind farm is expected to be completed by March 2015.
DELIVERING AHEAD OF SCHEDULE Mark Coia, Managing Director of Mabey Bridge Energy & Marine commented: “We are delighted to deliver our turbine towers to Clashindarroch ahead of schedule to help ensure the wind farm is operational as soon as possible. As a British manufacturer we have worked closely with Vattenfall and Senvion to increase UK content in the wind farm and look forward to working in partnership on similar projects well into the future.”
KEY MODEL
Raymond Gilfedder, Managing Director of Senvion UK added: "The MM82 machine is a key model for Senvion with over 300 installed in the UK alone and this positive progress for Clashindarroch wind farm clearly demonstrates the ongoing successful relationship between Senvion and Mabey Bridge.”
