NEW WIND TURBINE MARKING & LIGHTING SYSTEM

emerging offshore tidal industry, which is now moving to commercialisation.”

WELLTON ENERGY

Norwich-based Wellton Energy was also successful in its application and is now using its £8,800 SCORE grant to progress an inward investment project, assisting a European sub-sea cable specialist to establish its UK operation.

Jason Brighton, Director, says of the project “This is the first time we have worked with a European company keen to set up business in East Anglia and our SCORE funds have been vital in driving the project forward.

“We are undertaking all elements of the venture, from registering the company, working through the business legalities of establishing a UK operation and undertaking a site search to meet our client’s specific need for premises with direct access to the sea at Lowestoft or Great Yarmouth.”

FUNDING IMPORTANCE

Jason explains the importance of funding to the project: “SCORE funding has contributed massively to the future plans of Wellton Energy as it has enabled us to undertake our first European inward investment project. It has also enabled us to develop marketing materials and exhibit at EIC Connect in Manchester in November, to further promote our services.”

Richard Salmon concludes: “SCORE is acting as a catalyst for innovation across the region and with funding opportunities starting at £2,500 we urge any SME or start-up to get in touch to discuss their ideas – big and small alike.

“Another key advantage is the SCORE approvals panel meets on a monthly basis, which means applicants are only ever a few weeks away from knowing if they’ve been successful in their bid and embarking on their innovative project.”

Dutch company Orga Aviation is celebrating after the successful launch of its latest smart LED marking and lighting solution for wind turbines at the first- ever WindEnergy 2014 trade fair in Hamburg, Germany.

40 YEARS EXPERIENCE

With 40 years of experience and knowledge in design, developing and manufacturing smart obstruction lights, Dutch company Orga has taken obstruction marking and lighting solutions to new heights.

Developed to ensure safe navigation around wind farms and to provide safe access to wind turbines for maintenance, the company has used advanced LED optical technologies and precision engineering to produce an obstruction marking and lighting solution which meets all national and international regulations, delivers optimum performance and lowers the total cost of ownership.

THE SMART OBSTRUCTION MARKING AND LIGHTING SYSTEM COMPRISES… • Medium-Intensity LED Obstruction Light (L550) – 50% lighter than Orga’s previous L450 model and features built-in intelligence based on the latest LED optical technology, maximising both intensity and colour output. Reflective optics ensure light output is tightly focused, limiting ground scatter and reducing light pollution. The L550 also comes IR-prepared.

• Low-Intensity LED Obstruction Tube Light (L30) – easily mounted from the inside of the mast, reducing installation and maintenance costs. The design also reduces the potential impact of lightning to virtually nil as connection cables run through the inside of the mast.

• Control Panel (CIP400) – comes complete with Ethernet connection and enables improved communication with and between all Orga obstruction marking products. Easy to connect to your own communication system, the new controller’s compact size also saves space.

WINDENERGY HAMBURG Matthieu Scheffers, Business Manager for obstruction lighting at Orga, said: “It seemed fitting to launch our new smart marking and lighting solution for wind turbines at the first-ever WindEnergy trade fair in Hamburg. Orga Aviation works hard to keep ahead of emerging technologies so that we can give our customers the sustainable competitive advantage they need in the wind industry.

“Our investment in new technology and product research reflects our commitment to continue to produce innovative and precision-engineered obstruction lighting systems to help minimise capital costs and costs of ownership.”
