2014 Games legacy fund announced


A £10m grant scheme has been launched as part of the Scottish government’s plans to create a lasting sporting legacy from the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. The Legacy 2014 Active


Places Fund wi l l make grants of between £10,000 and £100,000 available for projects which promise to upgrade local facilities – such as new bike or skate parks, outdoor adventure facilities, walking routes, or new proj- ects within school estates. Minister for Commonwealth

Games and sport, Shona Robison, said: “Te Commonwealth Games will be the biggest multi-sports event Scotland has ever hosted and provides a unique opportunity to create a positive and lasting legacy for Scotland. “Te Legacy 2014 Active Places Fund will help communities across Scotland improve

Youth Sport Trust and YMCA join forces


Youth Sport Trust (YST) and YMCA announced a new partnership in October, designed to enhance both organisations’ reach within schools and communities. Te joint venture will see YST being able to access YMCA’s extensive community network of clubs for young people. YMCA will benefit from


making its apprenticeship schemes, training courses and its awarding body more avail- able for school leavers. Speaking at the School Sport
