ToyFair2013

Aqua Dragons received loads of attention at the show and winning one of the Best New Toys at the show awards certainly helped. Our best Toy Fair ever!

We scrutinise our trade show performance very carefully and substantially we had the most-ever visitors to our stand, the most number of orders taken and the highest-ever value of orders taken for the London event. It’s been great. In Hong Kong, London and

Nuremberg we have returned much better results than the previous years. I think there are a couple of factors; a greater sense of optimism in the trade, but I also think we are improving our offer both in terms of product and promotion.

Nanodots Matthew Jacobs

This year’s Toy Fair was a fantastic event; we met lots of independent toy stores as well as plenty of majors. The Nanodots range has far exceeded our expectations. With online community Dotpedia.com now in full swing, Nanodots promises to be one of this year’s top constructor toys. The Nanodots team is constantly developing new lines including our fabulous new colour range, as well as a new never been seen before product in the pipeline for later on in the year.

It was extremely successful for us, after unveiling our re-branded stand we were inundated with visits from existing customers and some exciting prospects too. London Toy Fair is always our first opportunity to showcase over 100 new products which we launch each year, the feedback to these was very encouraging. Overall the fair was busy and had a great atmosphere; I imagine the show was a strong event for many exhibitors. As we had such a large offering of new products at Toy Fair I’d be wrong just to pinpoint the one product, following the event we had a roundup of the top five. This ranged from our Lights & Sounds Buzzers which are the latest addition to our Answer Buzzer range to our whimsical Light-up Hand Pointers which are an instant hit.

Meccano Toys Sue Barratt

We introduced the trade to our exciting new ‘Evolution’ range, which harks back to the roots of the Meccano brand. The feedback we received was resoundingly positive with retailers extremely impressed with the quality and detail of the models. They told us that Meccano has such a strong brand presence that they were crying out for a range like this and really welcomed the direction that the brand is taking. Like everyone who takes part in these things, it’s hard to draw breath and take stock when you’re in the midst of the shows. But now the dust has settled, we can report that we have enjoyed a fantastic season. Everyone was keen to get a glimpse of the Evolution range and the response has been emphatically

supportive. Add to this the continued interest in the licensed ranges that we launched last year and new additions that we have introduced to Rabbids and Gears of War in 2013, and we’re convinced that the outlook for the year ahead is very bright.

We were highly delighted with this year’s fair and the number of people we saw, the icing on the cake was picking up the 2012 Special Recognition Toy Award. It

was also pleasing to be complimented on our new stand design, which worked well for us this year. We had a tremendous reaction to our new in-house product launch VIP Pets, our Mickey and Minnie line is growing stronger and stronger, and of course there was huge interest in our Max Steel line. We have very ambitious growth plans for 2013/14 and want to continue on from a very successful 2012 (+30% growth) by expanding our product offering and our customer base portfolio. As we grow as a business, so the opportunity to see major accounts also grows. I think Olympia may be getting stronger as I feel there is less dependency on HK and FOB trade.

VTech was welcomed back with such enthusiasm, and receiving the Supplier of the Year at the Toy Industry Awards was really the icing on the cake; we’re grateful as a whole company to get this recognition. Toy Fair gave us a great

platform to showcase the development in our InnoTab, VTech Baby, Kidizoom and Toot-Toot Drivers ranges to a wide variety of retailers. We were very pleased with the positive reactions we received. We are currently in talks regarding 2014, which will be very exciting, but 2013’s Toy Fair worked well for us and we’re now discussing locations that will allow us to get even more from the show.

Gibsons Games Kate Armitage

Overall, we were very pleased with Toy Fair; our order number and value increased from last year and we met with all of our major buyers. Our Spot the Sillies Pesky Pirates puzzle was voted best new toy at Toy

Fair in the Games and Puzzles category, and had a great reception from new and existing customers. With four puzzles in the range, children love piecing together the colourful scenes before scanning to find some ridiculous additions.

Olympia Toy Fair was excellent for us, and we were clearly helped traffic-wise by the hype around Moshi Monsters and the Walking With Dinosaurs 3D Movie. The whole show was very up-beat and positive. Our stand, and the whole venue, was enhanced greatly by the fantastic new lighting that has been installed in Olympia. Two new brands caught the eyes of our customers; the new pre-school line based on the Nick Jr TV show Tickety Toc, and the Walking With Dinosaurs Movie line, which looks like a strong contender for Christmas with the 3D movie launching in December.
