Jakks Pacifi c joins forces with Lucasfi lm


US toymaker Jakks Pacifi c has signed an agreement with Lucasfi lm to manufacture, distribute and market a 31-inch Darth Vader fi gure. The agreement also includes rights for additional product categories including fl ashlights, play tents, arcade games and more, to introduce a new generation of fans to Star Wars. Inspiration Works teams up with Disney


Inspiration Works is teaming up with Disney to launch a range of electronic learning toys, based on Monsters University. A tablet and smartphone featuring Mike and Sulley will coincide with the release of the movie in July this year. The new products will feature the voices of Mike (Billy Crystal) and Sulley (John Goodman). Tracey Devine, UK marketing director at Inspiration

Aurora World grabs Garfi eld deal


Bulldog Licensing has announced that Paws, owner of Garfi eld, has agreed a deal with Aurora World that will allow the company to produce a new range featuring the cat. The new agreement with Aurora


World will add to Garfi eld’s presence in UK retail. Other licensees include Somerbond for men’s nightwear and underwear, J Fox for bags, belts, wallets, hankies and toiletries, Blues Clothing, Brand Alliance and Silverknit for apparel, Sert MST for pet products, Moonpig.com for online greetings cards and Smiffys for dress-up. Rob Corney, Bulldog’s MD, said: “Garfi eld is the perfect brand for plush so we are delighted to


be working with Aurora who has a reputation for making high quality products that perform well at retail. Garfi eld is one of few brands around demonstrating very high levels of growth at retail in the current climate. He has very wide appeal with a massive following amongst both kids and adults, working with Aurora is the perfect solution to appeal right across his fan base.”


BinWeevils.com hits 20 million UK users and announces music album


BinWeevils.com now has 20 million registered users signed up to the site in the UK. The news follows recent successes including BinWeevils.com taking the top spot as the UK’s number one digital social world, and scooping its consecutive Bafta Kids Vote award for ‘Best Website’ in November last year. To celebrate, BinWeevils.com gave 20 users the chance to win a free year’s Bin Tycoon membership over February half-term. BinWeevils.com has also teamed up with Sony Music to release ‘Bin Tunes’ on 1st April 2013, a debut music album featuring characters from the website. The site offered its fanbase the opportunity to pen the lyrics of four tracks on the album. As well as earning a song-writing credit, four winners will spend a day at a London studio with a top music producer. Over 35,000 lyrics were submitted. ‘Bin Tunes’ includes tracks written and sung by kids, and has an album cover voted


for by kids, giving them ownership of an album they helped create. Eight kids have been chosen to sing on the album, from the many that auditioned.
