Special Recognition Awards John Adams

“To receive a Special Recognition Award from the TRA is a great honour, which recognises the excellent progress John Adams Leisure has made over the past few years. I wish to thank all our retail partners and particularly the independent toy retailers who will always be an important part of our business. With a strong programme of new product introductions for 2013, including

HolograFX, Mega Construction and further exciting launches under our games brand ‘Ideal’, we remain quietly confident in what will be a challenging year.” - Simon Pilkington, John Adams Leisure

IMC Toys

“It’s an honour to receive this award, and thank you so much to the TRA for selecting us to receive a Special Recognition Award. It’s a reflection of the hard work that everyone put in last year. I’m delighted for the Spanish team, and also for the whole of the UK team. For us to be recognised at this stage of our development is fantastic.” - Terry Crew, IMC Toys

GoldenTeddy

Graham Brennan, commercial director of Playmobil UK, talks to Toy World about his Golden Teddy win, and Playmobil’s time at Toy Fair.

How does it feel to have received a Golden Teddy award? It feels fantastic to be honoured with a Golden Teddy award. I’ve been in this industry for 26 years now and it’s extremely humbling that my efforts have been recognised by my peers and colleagues. I do have a theory that the award only goes to old fogies, so it’s probably a sign that I’m getting past it. It is particularly special as it’s the second Golden Teddy award Playmobil has won; Keith Frost won the award back in 2010.

How was the Toy Fair experience for you and for Playmobil? The Toy Fair was, again, absolutely wonderful and a great success for Playmobil. A particular highlight was winning the Best Designed Stand award, especially with a unanimous vote from the judges. Toy Fair is a big trading time for us, and we always look forward to showcasing our new ranges, and creating a bigger and better stand each year.

What was the best-received product at Toy Fair? The Police Station attracted a lot of attention, and won a Best New Toy award.

This was fantastic news for a range which celebrated a significant anniversary at this year’s Toy Fair, as the first Police car was unveiled there 35 years ago. Playmobil’s Police sets are always very popular, and we’re delighted that the theme remains such a timeless classic with little ones.

What can we expect from Playmobil throughout 2013?

2013 looks set to be another very exciting year for Playmobil. We’re launching 145 new ranges throughout the year, including some fantastic classics that children will be really eager to play with. I’m particularly excited about the Western range, which will be launched in April, as it’s the first time we’ve had a Western range since I joined Playmobil back in 2000. It will be brilliant to see the classic Western scene brought to life once again by a new generation of children.
