Steven Yvaska, “The Antiques Advisor” and San Jose Mercury columnist about antiques and bridal fairs. He said that antique shops could even be vendors featuring their “gift registry” for brides. Many brides could get a whole set of
used china for a fraction of the price of new. I’m hoping Steven can make our September 18th Bridal Show at Wedgewood at Eagle Ridge to share more of his ideas with our readers. With the new trend in weddings you can find so many items at your local antique shop for your engagement party, bridal shower or wedding. A few ideas that come to mind are blue glass canning jars for vases, teacups and saucers to hold treats for bridal shower favors and jam jars for tea light holders. For the grandmothers and mom’s out there, don’t be surprised if your daughter comes rooting around your cupboards or garage to reuse or repurpose your supplies. What I love best about this idea is the repurposing of items and how this is an amazingly fun way to recycle. For my daughter’s engagement party we used the blue jar for vases and roses from our garden. For the cupcakes we used a variety of old and newer cake plates to display them. Sprinkled around them on the table were dried rose petals from my first bloom this season. My younger daughter, the maid of honor, asked how to dry them. I told her I just left the petals where they fell and pulled the ones off the flowers and just laid them on paper towels for a few days until they
