wo big events come to the Center for the Arts on Seventh and Monterey this month. Kicking off the new downtown farmers market is the Spice of Life Festival and Market on June 5. The corner parking lot will be filled with produce and non-agricultural vendor booths from 10am to 4pm. There will be live music and fun activities for the kids. And, of course, what would summer be without the return of Fifth Street Live to downtown. The first concert, on Fifth between Monterey and Eigleberry, will be on June 15. Bring your own chair and join your friends every Friday night through August 26 (except for Garlic Festival weekend) from 7 to 9pm. Don’t feel like cooking? Los Pericos, Station 55 and Sue’s Coffee are all right there and would love your business. You could also walk over to Garlic City Books for some ice cream. Or come early and have dinner at some of the other resaurants up and down the street like Lizarran, Garlic City Cafe, OD’s and any day now, the opening of The Milias in the old Milias Hotel on the corner of 6th and Monterey.
