EAM Worldwide receives patent for RFID-Enabled vest

Refreshing IFE

Airline Services is demonstrating its single channel, solid state digital video player - AeroStream XP1. This exciting new product has been designed with space, weight, cost and energy saving in mind, offering the speed, clarity and flexibility of a digital delivery system with improved reliability and support at a competitive price, whilst delivering a superior performance. AeroStream XP1 is a new generation Plug and Play replacement for devices such as tape and DVD players. It has a 32GB memory (approx 20 films), the unit will play MPEG 1 to 4 and can even convert digital data into a composite signal for older generation IFE monitors. The AeroStream XP1 has the capability to serve as a standalone unit or slave unit for multi-channel system. The Aerostream XP1 is small enough to fit into an overhead bin and weighs only 1.5kgs. The company has already launched its ASL 175 AeroScreen, a 17.5” LCD HD-ready Monitor, which is fully interchangeable between its bulkhead mounting and ASL’s centre-aisle retract mechanism. The lightweight AeroScreen offers improved reliability, reduced weight and lower energy consumption, whilst delivering a screen image of remarkable clarity and brightness.

One stop shop for air distribution

EAM Worldwide has been awarded an exclusive patent for its floatation assembly with monitoring device by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

The monitoring device uses radio

frequency identification (RFID) as its core technology for tracking and securing inventory for EAM’s high quality life vests. RFID is widely used in a multitude of industries, but was first introduced to the aviation sector specifically for life vests by EAM RFID Solutions, the technology division of EAM Worldwide. Through the use of a handheld reader, all tagged assets in an aircraft can be scanned for location, birth record, maintenance or expiration dates and potential tampering warnings in just minutes. Whether for inventory management control, anti-theft measures or confirmation of routine maintenance, RFID can help companies optimise their internal operations by reducing time- and cost- exhausting manual inspection. EAM RFID Solutions is providing live demonstrations of their custom-built RFID applications at Aircraft Interiors Expo.

Up until several few years ago Arrowhead Products was more widely known for its capability in designing and manufacturing systems for high pressure, high temperature pneumatic applications such as high temperature engine bleed air, bleed air distribution, nacelle and wing anti icing systems.

Utilising its wealth of design and manufacturing skills, Arrowhead Products decided to expand its capabilities to provide complete air distribution solutions for both high pressure, high temperature and low pressure, low temperature air distribution systems. Arrowhead Products felt it was important to be able to provide its customers with a ‘one stop shop’ when it comes to the requirements of air distribution. So whether its customers require a simple flexible duct or a fully integrated high pressure and low pressure air distribution system, Arrowhead Products has the products, skills and tools to be able to deliver the best technical and cost effective solutions. For aircraft interior applications Arrowhead

Products have a wide range of low pressure air distribution products that can be supplied as existing ‘off the shelf’ solutions or that can be tailored to meet its customers’ specific needs. It also has a range of materials and products that provide significant weight savings over more traditional materials used in the aerospace industry for these particular products. The range of flexible ducting, composite ducting and acoustic mufflers

can be supplied as single product solutions or provided as a complete engineered package. Arrowhead Products’ recent developments and subsequent success is endorsed by the selection and participation on a number of new aircraft programmes in the America’s, Europe and more recently in the booming aerospace market of China.
