OILENNIUM

OILENNIUM THE COMPANY HISTORY Kevin set up the company in 2000 providing development for other companies in a variety of businesses including international security, recruitment and downhole cameras, amongst others, as a consultant, having worked in business for some 25/30 years.

WE MET UPWITH KEVIN KEABLE, MANAGING DIRECTOR AND OWNER OF OILENNIUM, FOLLOWING DISCUSSIONS WITH EEEGR ON COMPANIESWHO HAVE MADE PARTICULAR PROGRESS IN RECENT YEARS, SO THAT OTHER ASPIRING NEWCOMERS IN THE INDUSTRY CAN PICK UP A FEWTIPS TO HELP THEM ON HEIRWAY.

Kevin takes up the story “In 2004 an opportunity presented itself to develop training courses for a company, then with one or two more, and then it snowballed. One of the companies asked me to develop e-learning courses. Although reluctant at first, they insisted, so I looked into it further and saw a great opportunity. Software was sourced and we developed it to suit our requirements. It just took off from there.

“In 2007 we saw our first course go online and in the last 3 years we’ve gone from 2 staff to 22 and we are currently recruiting to meet a total of 30 by the end of 2011. We will still need to outsource relevant work on top of that”.

KEVIN’S CV Kevin recalled “A 4 year ECITB Apprenticeship in the shipyards, then I started work in an oilfield service company in Gt Yarmouth. The possibility of worldwide travel in the advert was the main attraction! As a farm boy, turned apprentice, suddenly having the opportunity to see the world - I couldn’t resist.

Kevin continued “We have two main clients, both large service companies and many smaller clients. The majority of the work has come in through word of mouth and only one piece of work through active sales. We like to think we do things differently and make sure, above all, that our customers get exactly what they want. My background is technical – I started as an apprentice, on the tools so to speak, so when we develop a course I understand the nuts and bolts of how it works – how a turbine works, how it generates power, how the flanges are bolted together etc. Most of the companies, which do what we do, have an IT/graphics and/or educationalist background. We have both technical and IT/graphics/educationalist people working within the company and we believe that gives us an edge”.
