ABLE UK – THE COMPANY Established in1966 Able UK is above all entrepreneurial. It is privately owned, well resourced and decisive. It operates as a diversified group, has a strong in-house capability, is an experienced developer, and has a strong and successful track record. The company and its management team are familiar with challenging environments, has a land bank holding of circa 1,400ha (3,450 acres) and is committed to satisfying client needs.

EVOLUTION The company has evolved from onshore to offshore and is involved in oil platform and marine structure decommissioning in very challenging environments An example being the BP North West Hutton during 2008/9 which was the largest oil platform removed from the North Sea.


Ship recycling is undertaken at Able Seaton Port in Hartlepool combining experience with the largest dry dock in Europe and developing a European recycling industry following examples set by the


US and French Governments. An example of which was the LE CLEMENCEAU (Q790) in 2009 – the largest single ship recycling contract in Europe at 32,780 GT (27,860 Net), 255m x 52m x 65m and containing 700 tonnes of asbestos material.


CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS INCLUDE • Brambles new depot including offices, welfare and a 0.8 ha yard, completed within 4 months of order being placed


• Hewden Plant Hire new depot including offices, welfare and a 2 hectares yard, completed within 5 months of order being placed


• KIA PDI Workshop - new buildings at Able Sea Port


• Able Seaton Port Quay - £20m Contract


• Alab Environmental Services waste management and landfill operator - recycling Centre new cell Summer 2010 with a 2.15m³ capacity
