THREE WIND! THE

Welcome again to our second issue ofWind Energy Network. I think we proved in our launch issue that we are a very different kind of magazine and remember we are also available online.

Your feedback has been tremendous and not just from those whom we have featured. We have received many accolades so thank you all for your comments – it makes us even more determined to bring you a stunning publication based on both quality design and editorial.

I have continued to travel the country visiting companies and associations and without exception, found a warm welcome coupled with a positiveness which is so refreshing when compared to other industries at this financially difficult time.

MY COLUMN TITLE You may be wondering why the odd title – It refers to my photograph! I only had a few glasses of wine following a particularly enjoyable Sunday dinner at a friend’s house.

Editors do get quite a bad name regarding their consumption of alcohol but as will be proved when I am better known throughout the industry, I am the very picture of sobriety and professionalism!

COMMUNICATION The industry is just not communicating well enough. This is not meant as a criticism merely a wake-up call and we will task ourselves with helping, as much as we can, to improve the situation.

There is no better way to communicate than face to face. This builds an initial bond of trust which can be expanded upon by other means such as email and telephone. By the time you read this the RenewableUK event will have taken place in Glasgow and I will have met many more of you. By and large your comments have been positive regarding events such as these, but not all. I have therefore based my editor’s article on this subject in this issue and it is entitled “Conferences, Exhibitions and Events – are they worth attending?”

NEW IN THE MAGAZINE AND ONLINE MAGAZINE • Speakers’ Corner – your chance to state your view. John Deasey of Slingo Ltd starts us off – please send in your opinions for future editions

• The Law and the Wind Energy Industry

• Health & Safety • Small Wind

ONLINE • Recruitment – expanding on our website opening, in conjunction with our launch issue, we will now be featuring some helpful advice to both potential employees in presenting a case for employment and also employers in making that crucial decision on who to employ

• Future Events – we are at present developing an events calendar for both organisers and visitors to source information from a single website and plan ahead with ease

We make no apologies for repeating that we want to play our part in ensuring that Wind Energy Network is the best vehicle for communication for all involved in the wind energy industry. Our vision is for our publication to be the communication centre of activity in both printed and online versions using all the digital communication tools available, as soon as practically possible.

Our Supply Chain Register continues to grow with more than 200 new companies coming on board since our launch edition.

2011WALL PLANNER You will find a free 2011 wall planner within this issue which will help you plan your next exciting year. This comes courtesy of the companies who chose to support our publication in its infancy and we thank them sincerely for their trust and commitment.

Again welcome to our second edition of Wind Energy Network. I look forward to meeting many more of you whether by official invitation, at conferences, exhibitions and events or just an impromptu meeting. I hope to learn much more about this exciting new and vibrant industry and the people involved within it.

Please get in touch with your contributions and we will consider them for publication or maybe we can just have a chat over a drink or two – non alcoholic of course!
