Charity praises online payment solution


Online payment specialistWorldPay is celebrating five years of supporting the British Heart Foundation’s annual London to Brighton Bike Ride, by providing an online payment systemfor entry fees.


When registration for the 2014 event opened, theWorldPay payment gateway successfully processedmore than 4,100 registration payments in just one day, totalling almost £233,000. Over the course of the first week, that number grew to around £482,210 for in excess of 11,772 riders.


“As well as the reassurance that comes fromworking with a brand likeWorldPay for payment processing, we also have a dedicated team for the duration of registration,” saysTomBarton, Senior Project Manager for the British Heart Foundation. “They’re on hand to respond immediately should anything go amiss with payments.”


Newresearch shows complexity ofAcne


Recent findings that reveal the pathogenic role of a widely studied bacterium called Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes) has prompted academic researchers to rethink howAcneVulgaris develops and how it may be better managed.


Previously, P. acnes was considered by researchers to further inflame skin, following the establishment ofAcne lesions. New research now suggests that certain strains of the bacterium may play a more direct role in acne formation.


Ambitious year for Salon Services


Salon Services has kicked off an ambitious year of growth, with its first new store opening of the year on the Isle ofWight.


After four store openings in 2013, as well as a new flagship store on New Oxford Street in London, the business has big plans to grow its store footprint throughout the UK in 2014.
