Polar bears


Location: Nunavik region where visitors can observe the bears in their


meals and many extras in the following itinerary: DAY 1/2: Fly to Montréal. Time to explore at leisure and join an informative walking tour. DAY 3: Travel VIA Rail through rugged hills, rich pastures, forests and tiny villages to Québec City. DAY 4: Take a walking tour of Québec City to see the many historical sites and hidden gems. DAY 5: Collect a hire car and follow the scenic St. Lawrence River to the Rivière-du-Loup, gateway to the Gaspé Peninsula. The 206km drive takes in quaint Kamouraska, beautiful villages and Notre- Dame-du-Portage. In Rivière-du-Loup clients stay in the Pot a l’Eau de Vie lighthouse. DAY 6/7: Drive on to Gaspésie National Park for the Chic-Choc and McGerrigle mountains. The park contains the highest peaks in Québec; a caribou herd, lots of moose and 150 bird species. DAY 8: En-route to Gaspé (200km), explore the Forillon National Park for magnifi cent views, black bears, porcupines, beavers, kittiwakes, cormorants, guillemots, seals and whales. DAY 9: Drive to Percé (69km) where Bonaventure Island and Percé Rock Park are home to 110,000 northern gannets and boat trip opportunities. DAY 10: Head through cute fi shing villages to Matapedia (320km). At Bonaventure visit the


Gospel Chapel or the Acadian Museum and perhaps UNESCO-rated Parc de Miguasha. DAY 11: Parc du Bic (201km) is a magical spot for sea excursions, hiking, cycling and harbour seal spotting. From here continue to Rimouski, home to a maritime museum, the Onondaga submarine and one of the tallest lighthouses in Canada. DAY 12: Board a high-speed catamaran for the 55-minute crossing to Forestville and drive to Tadoussac, ideal for the whale-watching area of Saguenay. A 10-minute ferry leads to Baie Ste Catherine and la Malbaie (169km total drive). DAY 13: Join a three-hour whale-watching cruise to see fi ve or six species including the humpback, fi n and blue whale. DAY 14/15: Drive to Saint-Alexis-Des-Monts (338 km) bordering Mastigouche Wildlife Reserve for many outdoor activities plus a sunset observation of beavers. Then explore the Saint Maurice region to spot black bears in their natural habitat from a purpose-built log cabin. DAY 16: Return to Montréal for the fl ight home.
