Alex Calvin speaks to Chippenham-based Pink Planet’s senior manager Luke Findlay on how the store has thrived during the quieter release windows with bundles, DLC codes and non-gaming stock
How has business been for you recently? It’s been going really well. We’ve had a load of next-gen titles coming out – Mario Kart and Watch Dogs were defi nitely two of the biggest games last month. Mario Kart 8 brought a massive burst of life back into the Wii U And we’ve just started doing trade-in – there are a lot of gamers here so that’s bringing a lot more revenue to us.

Did you do any launch events for Watch Dogs and Mario Kart? We did a midnight launch for Watch Dogs. It went really well. With the bank holiday we were scared about stock but we paid extra to get stock in on the Saturday. That certainly made our lives a little easier.
The release schedule has been quite quiet recently. How have you been coping? We’ve really been pushing the
next-gen stock, doing bundle deals and selling all the DLC codes. We’ve been upselling items to get a little extra money and to make sure that people are leaving happy and with all the stuff they need. It’s all about trying diff erent things, that’s the key thing. We dont just focus on games – we have a variety of stock other than games, such as DVDs, Warhammer and also phones and tablets. Tech now is huge here, so we have a new
