Ben is recognised as a leading UK expert by the legal community and is listed in the main professional as a leading individual for his expertise in immigration law. Ben has a client base across numerous sectors,

including finance, media and professional services. He also has a significant private client following.

As immigration counsel to major city institutions, Ben has spoken on corporate immigration issues to many industry groups. He is a regular panel member at International Bar Association bi-annual conference on global immigration. He lectures for BPP Professional Development on Business Immigration and is on the Editorial board of Lexis Nexis Immigration PSL.

Ben also has experience in family reunion matters, including applications for entry clearance to the UK for spouses, civil partners and other dependant relatives. He has presented appeals to the Immigration Appellate Authority.

In 2012 Ben became director of Magrath Global (Singapore) and he oversees the firm’s activities in the Asia-Pacific region. Singapore is the thriving economic hub of Asia and Magrath is one of a small number of niche immigration practices to offer a full range of services in the region.

Ben provides advice and assistance to major multi-national companies and individuals of all nationalities seeking work authorisation, economic based activities (such as business entrepreneurs and representatives of overseas companies), skilled migrants and investors. Notably, Ben has experience in strategic immigration planning or large organisations and he assists international assignments departments and human resource managers to develop compliance and legal right to work (LRTW) policies. As compliance has become a major issue for sponsoring employers under Tier 2 of the points based system, UK based companies increasingly look to external counsel for guidance on the myriad procedures, reporting and record keeping obligations imposed upon them.

Ben has contributed to the implementation and development of the points based system by organising and chairing stakeholder meetings with Home Office officials and directors of PBS Policy.

Ben is the co-editor with Chris Magrath of the Business Immigration Law Review and he has contributed to a number of publications including In-house Lawyer (monthly immigration update) and Corporate International Magazine.
