DANCING ON A VOLCANO BY JONATHAN HART Seeing is believing, so splash out and make the most of it, I was told; a process involving up to a dozen internal flights plus even more overnights at barefoot beach lodges or exquisite resorts. Enroute I dived in Fiji, partied on kava in The Cooks, sailed in Tonga and hiked to Robert Louis Stevenson’s grave atop Mt. Vaea in Samoa. Motor biking on Moorea and cycling around Bora Bora added to memorable experiences completed on my last day in a remote corner of Tahiti – seeing an exact replica of Gaugin’s celebrated painting of a girl washing at a waterfall come to life.
