INDUSTRY COMMENT “Jacksonville offers more than 20 miles of beautiful beaches, a strong cultural scene and more holes of golf than almost any

other destination. It has activities for all ages” Katie Kurycki, Director of Marketing and Product Development, Visit Jacksonville – See Jacksonville, page 24

“Peru offers more than Inca ruins. There's the Amazon rainforest for wildlife, colonial towns like Cuzco and Arequipa, the vast

Lake Titicaca and fascinating indigenous cultures” Amanda Sweeney, Latin America Programme Manager, Rainbow Tours – See P

eru, page 36

At each event – in Cheltenham, Gatwick and Chester – agents genned up on the tourism assets of this Arabian Peninsula nation, learning more about its mountains and beaches; nature-based activities such as turtle and dolphin watching, its three golf courses, and its impressive UNESCO World Heritage-listed attractions. Trade workshops and road shows, served with a little wine and nibbles, are, of course, nothing new. Agents get courted at numerous evenings hosted by tourism boards, hotel groups and others throughout the year, but what makes our Destination Dialogues a little different is that we send along a senior person from our editorial team to help proceedings move along apace and, when needed, inject a ’cutting edge’ to the question and answer sessions – and then we write about the main points covered in some detail in an informative 'how to sell' style. You can read all about Oman, and the information that agents gleaned from the evenings, by reading our special supplement distributed with this issue of Selling L

ong Haul. Also, don't miss our special section, starting on page 75, on this

year’s Travel Agents Choice Awards. You'll find details of all our finalists, how you can win some great prizes AND be present at our first Awards Party in London on October 1. See you there!
