haul wedding. Daughter Holly wed at Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands, whilst son Sam said ‘I do’ at Ulusaba in South Africa. you’ve got a ready-made arsenal of selling tools to tempt couples. Weddings are lucrative for resorts, hence the creation of increasingly impressive venues. Take the Conrad Bali, with its state-of- the-art chapel or Sugar Ridge’s new hilltop wedding pavilion, where couples say their vows at the top of Antigua. With the average UK wedding and
honeymoon costing around £22,000 in 2013 (according to You & Your Wedding), many couples are being drawn to long- haul destinations such as Mauritius where the same can cost just £4,000. Virgin Holidays’ wedding and honeymoon
expert Linda Burton, said: “Overseas weddings are cheaper than getting married in the UK. Couples can then spend more on upgrading to a better hotel or maybe choosing a multi-centre, with the money they have saved.
