global products says these latest experiments by the company are also highly responsive, catering to a growing category of consumers who want the option to move quicker through the product.
“The moment you press a button, the reels spin. It allows the player to have a very good connection to the game.” He adds, “If the player is a gambler who wants to move quickly, they would want a responsive device that is with them at where they want to be.” Pacey says these concepts are targeted to more gambler- focused players, a popular type in Asia. “When you see the type of product and
experiences you can have here, it shows the power and capability of our platforms and our expertise in regards to production values,” he says.

cash management systems, G&D, is the BPS C4, a hulk of a machine churning through high- volumes of currency in several compartments. A platform engineered to boost an operator’s productivity, the currency management solution sorts, authenticates and counts up to 40,000 notes per hour. The platform
Asian-themes into our products for the region,” says Mark Aubrey, Aristocrat’s director of sales and business development. Not surprisingly the company’s presence on the floor at G2E Asia was extensive. Aristocrat’s studied approach of understanding Asian player preferences – region to region – has also been translated to several new developments showcased at the three-day event. currencies, and the machine can be customised to the operator’s specifications. The modular system means the device can be set up with 20 output stacks. Peter Workurka, a representative of the Munich-headquartered company says the device can process five currencies in one row and if a wrong banknote enters the machine, the machine will throw it out immediately to the reject compartment. Not limited to cash, the BPS C4 can process other materials too (the sorter supports paper and polymer materials), including casino tickets. G&D’s cash management solutions are
already servicing major operators in Las Vegas as well as new operators cropping up, including Solaire Manila Resort and Casino.
Aristocrat’s latest developments come out strong
“It’s our 60th year for Aristocrat and 30 years of bringing games to Asia as we are the first company to bring Chinese-language games and
series of games, are enhanced editions revealed at the show, such as New Legends 50 Dragons and Fortune King Deluxe. Added features include Aristocrat’s More Power concept of bonus games that allows players to expand the slot’s reels. On the system front, the company revealed the On Demand platform to Asia, a downloadable system that lets operators manage and edit gaming content at every cabinet on the floor. “It’s like a subscription set up where you have a number of games in the library and the operator has the freedom through the system to change them,” says Aubrey. The refined focus on Asia by Aristocrat was also underscored by several new games attuned specific region-to-region. The Mega Manny Jackpot, with several large monitors atop the slots occupying much space at Aristocrat’s booth, was the most prominent example. Centered around Filipino pugilist Manny Pacquiao, the company dubs the feature “the legend for our Legends games,” a feature atop Legends games such Fortune King Deluxe, 50 Dragons, 50 Dragons Deluxe and more. The company collaborated closely with the athlete, with full-motion capture technology attached to the boxer to generate the refined graphics and action sequences. The game was conceived to do well in the Filipino market also Macau since Pacquiao will be fighting at the territory in November this year.
GPI: No Manual Counting Required
RFID technology has been applied in this industry for years with radio waves communicating devices on chips for tracking and security measures. Only recently has the application progressed beyond chips, as indicated by the GPI’s intelligent table solutions revealed at G2E Asia 2013. “We’re taking RFID and incorporating the technology to how casinos operate the floor and back-of- house and finding ways to keep the games
moving without having to stop to count [the money],” says Maricela Maciel, GPI’s marketing manager.
The Plaque Box, a storage unit that houses
high-value currency items, is a prime example. Not only does the product offer security in high-currency items but real-time metrics of the contents’ movements and accounting. Traditionally, casinos store plaques in locked acrylic boxes on tables. Staff manually count the currency items on the floor, a process that consumes game-playing time. In contrast, the Plaque Box has automated the process, courtesy of RFID technology.
Integrated with the Chip Inventory System (CIS), GPI’s money management software, operators can manage currency items on the floor and inventory back-of-house, in a heightened level of efficiency and accuracy. The monitors detailing the metrics (such as
transactions at the table and denominations at the tray) can be customized to the venue’s requirements. “The screen can show whatever the casino operator chooses or nothing at all,” says Maciel. She adds that all of the information is recorded and tracked via the CIS software, a program installed wherever the operator wants to have access to the information.
IGT: Intrinsic Eastern Flavour Mark Michalko, the sales director at IGT, was
aware of all the Oriental motifs at every turn. The floor was dominated by booths draped in Asian flair alongside products sharing designs brushed with dragons, characters and other familiar symbols of the region. Mark says: “You walk around and see Chinese graphics, pictures and stories which get players to the game but that isn’t going to make them stay; you have to have an intrinsic math model keep them there.” Michalko adds that players especially in Macau are infinitely more intelligent in sorting out a game’s characteristics, and that is what determines if they will stay. The key ingredient lies behind the game’s “math-model DNA.” “The core difference between US and Asian player habits is volatility. Generally, American gamblers gravitate towards games where players can win smaller prizes somewhat frequently whereas visitors in Asia
