The sTroke Now it comes to the stroke and how your shoulders will react to your chosen posture.

sequeNce 1 – The face BalaNce PuTTer Working from left to right, you can see how the shoulders rock up and down. The right shoulder moves up in the back stroke and the left shoulders moves up in the through stroke.

sequeNce 2 – mId-BalaNced or Toe WeIGhTed PuTTer again working from left to right, there is a marked difference in how the shoulders move through the different strokes. here the shoulders are rotating open to closed through the stroke rather than the previously mentioned rocking motion of the face balanced putter.

GrIP Building a good grip is one of the most important fundamentals in putting. here are a few pointers on how to achieve this, together with a few options which may freshen up your time on the greens.

sTaGe 1 Place the putter along the life line of the hand nearest to the hole (lead hand) like this.

sTaGe 2 close your hand, placing your thumb down the centre of the grip, as shown here.

sTaGe 3 To complete the conventional “reverse overlap” grip cover the thumb of the lead hand with your trailing hand (the hand furthest away from the hole). The index finger of the lead hand will sit on top of the little finger of the trailing hand.
