This month BikeBiz delves into the new products that may not have appeared in the many exhibitions that have taken place this month...
WIT Industries Fendor Bendor Seeking UK distributor: +31(0)614432645
THE FENDOR-BENDOR 3 is, like its predecessor, designed and produced in the Netherlands and made from 100 per cent recycled and recyclable plastics. Unlike others on the market, this simple design is supplied in a simple-to-bend-into-shape unit, that when not in use folds into thirds and stashes away in a bag pocket nicely. A Velcro strap attaches to the seat tube of your bike, while pre-punched cut outs allow for easy adjustment around brake calipers if needed. The 60-gram guard is compatible with road, singlespeed and mountain bikes. The only catch is the guard will not work on monostay frames.
RoadHawk Ride camera Dogcam Sport: 01208 269 159
WITH PLANS to bring on board more retail partners in 2013, Dogcam sport have developed a cycling camera with an in-built ‘black box recorder’ and a system which loops the footage to ensure only the freshest action is stored, making it ideal for commuters wary of undesirable encounters on the road.
Claiming to be the only UK-designed and
insurance-approved cameras, the Roadhawk product weighs only 32 grams and will record up to eight hours onto its 32GB card. A single charge of the li-polymer battery will provide 90 minutes of continuous recording at 30 frames per second (in 720p). Currently the cameras are available from Evans
Cycles, though RoadHawk are looking for independent retail stockists across the UK and all sales enquiries should be directed to RoadHawk sales manager Ed Mayne.
Garmin Edge 510 and 810 Madison: 0208 385 3385
THE EDGE 810 and 510 are Garmin’s first dedicated cycling devices with real-time connectivity and combine the most popular aspects of the Edge 800/500, while adding advanced connected features through a smartphone (Apple or Android). The new user-friendly interface, along with live
tracking, social media sharing and real-time weather updates make them perfect for training and touring. The 810 features a sleek 2.6-inch colour display, up to 17-hours of battery life, and a newly redesigned and simplified touchscreen interface. The 810 is also compatible with detailed street or TOPO maps, including BirdsEye Satellite Imagery. The 510 is a compact option, weighing just 90
grams and boasting a new 2.2-inch sunlight readable touchscreen display. The Edge 510 is rugged, waterproof and has up to a 20-hour battery life. The touchscreen is easy to operate, even with a gloved finger and when wet.
SUEME HAS launched a ladies version of the ‘Tree Trunks’ underwear, the Beech Shorties. Supplied in the same recycled cardboard
packaging, the ladies versions span sizes extra small through large and will retail for the same price as the men’s product. Of particular interest to the retail will be the ‘Tree’
point of sale unit, available free with trade orders and designed to hold 20 pairs of trunks on a single sided unit, or 40 on a double. The product itself is manufactured from beech
tree pulp, which is super soft, comfortable and fast drying, as well as naturally anti-bacterial. Five per cent lycra construction means the garment will hold its shape and add support where needed. The SueMe slogan “What goes around comes
around” is knitted into in a contrasting colour into the waistband.
