the nutrition brands of the bike trade have settled down and Torq now rests with Zyro. Set up in 1999, the brand has a fitness consultancy heritage and sticks to the mantra of only including what is needed in the products it makes. Working on its now well-established maltodextrin: fructose formula – which provides a 40 per cent increase in carb delivery – the brand is switching from tubs to pouches, meaning less packaging for this premium nutrition brand. Back to ABUS, but now on the lock side of the business, the brand has another ‘Ecolution’ offering – the Bordo 6000. Launched at Eurobike, the 6000 is made of recyclable material but still offers the kind of protection to make criminals weep. And the Bordo range as a whole now offers Sold Secure ratings at different price points. New to the lock range is the Ugrip series of
D locks. Made from the same material as the Bordo locks, these colourful offerings are beefy and easily mountable. The firm also now offers a range of Ugrip Cable locks pitched at juniors. There’s much more from the firm we couldn’t fit in here. Zefal was showing off a range of road
mudguards that promised to be far more stable than many in the genre, secured with two stays that are easy to fit and take off and at a nice price point of £29.99. There was also new guards for the city hybrid sector, with reflective patches to aid visibility. Also raising its green credentials, Zefal’s Green Z range is fully recyclable and may be the start of a wider range dependent on demand. Other offerings include a 29er mudguard at £17.99 and mini pumps. The new Z-hose Pen Gauge has an inline gauge, fitting Presta or Schrader. High end Etxeondo is another brand looking to boost awareness, with new POS furniture, a new site and other marketing activities in the works. One key development from the brand is, while still offering some pricy, high-end highly technical apparel, Etxeondo is now also offering a lower entry point into the brand to act as an easier stepping in point. Some good looking new jackets, gillets and bib tights are on offer in a tightened up collection. Eyewear brand Tifosi has four new models, still at everyday price points. The Veloce, Duro Interchangeable (pictured), Podium – fully shielded but with interchangeable lenses, plus the Dolomite 2.0. To find out more about any of the above or
