NEC Display Solutions Client Installation Luxury Retail

THE JET BUSINESS CREATING A BIG IMPRESSION

Rumoured to be one of the biggest interior design projects in London in 2011, The Jet Business hosts its clients in an aviation showroom like no other. Thirty two NEC displays create a floor to ceiling bank of screens running the length of the foyer, large enough to display full size cross sections of jet aircraft.

The Jet Business is the world’s first ever street level corporate aviation showroom for the acquisition and sale of private jet aircraft and ancillary services. The Jet Business provides a fully immersive experience throughout the aircraft transaction process, combining the most up to date product information, global market data, extensive industry relationships and unrivalled world-class expertise.

THE CHALLENGE

Steve Varsano, founder of The Jet Business declares, “how do you capture the curiosity of individuals that have seen everything?” When your client base consists of billionaires and country leaders, it takes something special to draw their attention - Varsano needed to impress. His challenge was to build a full size replica of a business jet cabin, complete with designer interior, and put it in a shop front on Hyde Park Corner, one of the most esteemed yet accessible locations in London. Using a bespoke iPad App and a whopping 8 screens wide by 4 screens tall videowall measuring 8206mm x 2319mm, to display life size aircraft images, Varsano describes his approach as “a game changer.”

THE SOLUTION

The Jet Business worked with technology agency Viastak to grasp Varsano’s concept and to bring it to fruition. Managing the IT and Communications systems in-house, Viastak partnered with Candeo Vision to deliver the AV systems with technical assistance provided by trade-only videowall experts PSCo Technical Distribution, whose experience with videowalls was crucial to the success of the project. Campbell Burns, Director of Viastak says, “taking a concept such as Steve had and using technology to turn it into a fully functioning business solution is the ethos of our business. Projects like The Jet Business are unique and it was crucial for the Viastak Visual team to deliver day-one and support the client on an on-going basis.”

“There were challenges during the installation phase of the project caused by the limited space and one special condition – one section of the videowall had to be mounted on a door that remained accessible,” says Liam Norris, New Product Specialist at PSCo Technical Distribution. The sheer size of the videowall created challenges with alignment. PSCo recommended its custom- made modular videowall bracket which aids

alignment and with front access functionality it also facilities easy service and maintenance. The NEC remote control kit provides quick and easy access to the videowall display setting via a remote handset which is a valuable service tool.

The videowall is required to present highly detailed drawings to high profile clients so screen reliability and performance of the screens was a priority. “High resolution, high image detail, a small image gap and precise content delivery is important to The Jet Business,” explains Norris. “The NEC screens deliver ultra-high resolution with superb image quality and unrivalled reliability.” NEC’s unique heat management and ambient light sensor are crucial for the reliability of such a large videowall located in a recessed space, heat build-up would be detrimental to the operation of the screens and could create an uncomfortable environment for clients. Norris explains, “the ambient light sensor automatically adjusts the brightness of the entire videowall, reacting in real time to the level of light being delivered into the space from the adjacent window. This not only ensures comfortable levels of brightness for users viewing the videowall, but also ensures the videowall isn’t being driven harder than it needs to be, reducing power consumption, saving energy
