Christmas Windows

Harrods – London

This year’s installation from Harrods is every little girl’s dream, with princesses galore descending on the Christmas windows to create an enchanted sense of excitement. In an incredible collaboration with Disney, Harrods is celebrating the festive season by creating showstopping Disney Princessinspired installations, complete with dresses designed by some of the most famous names in fashion, including Oscar de la Renta, Versace and Ellie Saab. Each designer has taken inspiration from a different original Disney Princess, with characters from classics including The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Sleeping Beauty taking centre stage. The designers have added their own unique twist on the characters’ iconic dresses, creating an incredible Christmas window scheme. The windows are a celebration of the festive season, taking extremely well known Disney imagery and giving it that unmistakable Harrods twist. Chic, decadent and with a playful childhood twist, these windows are a mustsee for any Christmas window enthusiast.

Fortnum and Mason – London

Fortnum and Mason’s Christmas windows focus on the traditional ragstoriches tale of Dick Whittington. This classic theme encapsulates the true British spirit and, after a momentous year for the city of London, the theme is a celebration of all things London. The inhouse team; led by Paul Symes, designed the concept and created the exciting visual displays for the famous London store. “Each year we strive to create a different style to the previous one. The last few years have been artistic and slightly ‘off the wall’ masterpieces based on glamorous, opulent themes such as the 1930s. However, to end this historic year we felt it fitting to return to a storyled theme that focused on the city and its wonderful heritage,” explains Symes. This year’s windows have been

decorated with 4000 baubles, 300 sets of Christmas lights, carriages, plumes, velvet and gold coins. The team at Fortnum and Mason see their windows as a communal piece of art, and enjoy every step in the process from mood boards and sketches to hanging, gluing and dressing the windows before they are revealed!
