THE Lightweight HollowTech II 105 10- speed chainset uses hollow forged and anodised aluminium crank arms, minimising flex and keeping weight low. HollowTech II allows the BB bearings to be spaced wider apart, allowing for the use of larger bearings and an increased axle diameter (SRP £164.99). The wide link design 105 10-speed front derailleur features wide link design 105 double front derailleur for increased rigidity and improved shifting response (SRP £31.99). 0208 385 3385

THE FSA K Force 386 Evo crank and BB system brings together popular BB standards in a one-crank-fits-all solution. The 386 Evo combines the lightness and stiffness of the BB30 design with the Q factor of a traditional set up. BBB’s AluBoys are derailleur pulleys made of 7075 aluminum, making the pulleys even more stiff for fast shifting, and come in two versions: BDP-21 standard version and BDP-22, using high-quality sealed ceramic bearings. 01845 521700

LIKE most of the drivetrain ranges listed on these pages, it’s tough – nay impossible – to do justice to all of the brands’ ranges. Suffice to say, however,
range and the Rival crankset, the latter featuring ‘open core technology’ meaning the crank arms are hollow- forged out of AL6066 alloy for maximum strength. The Apex Crankset, meanwhile, tips the scales at less than 890grams and uses SRAM’s cold forging process to acheive that minimum weight without scrimping on top notch stiffness.
