With our thoughts already turning to Toy Fair (24-26 January, London Olympia, see our preview on page 16) and Harrogate Nursery Fair in March, it’s hard to believe that Christmas was only a few weeks ago...so much to plan for, so much to do! January is traditionally a quiet month for retailers and while some are very upbeat others are anxious about the year ahead. In response to a request from government, Mary Portas ‘Queen of Shops’ has put together a set of recommendations for breathing new life into our town centres. Take a look at what she has to say on page 14 and let me know your thoughts so that we can continue the debate. All of our regular features are back, in our first Retail Spotlight of 2012, we talk to Steve and Tina Goult of Babe-in-Arms, Dunstable (p10); the BPA (p6); get the latest on the organic and monitors markets in Ni Viewpoints (p12); highlight some great new products in Editor’s Choice (p5) along with all the latest industry news (p4). And that’s not all - we also take a look at Pushchairs & Accessories (p20); Safety in the Home (p24) and Sleep Solutions (p28). Enjoy the issue!
