Connector Products Clip simplifies flexible circuit assembly
Molex introduces the ClipLok interconnect clip, an electromechanical connection designed to secure amembrane switch or FPC tail to a printed circuit board, eliminatingmating connectors at each point. This low-profile clip promises immediate and reliable circuit-to-board connectivity in a range of consumer, medical, networking and telecommunications applications.
It works using a spring-typemechanismto
bond circuits together, with the switch circuit wrapped around the edge of the board. A built-in feature guides the assembler in the
correct placement of the clip and circuit. Vice president and generalmanager of printed
circuit products,Molex, Todd Hester, explained: “The low-profile ClipLok delivers: strong mechanical attachment, excellent electrical integrity, lower product cost and ease of assembly. Designs includingmembrane switches, capacitive switches, touchscreens, display flex assemblies and flex circuit jumpers could all benefit fromthe technology.”

TE Connectivity (TE) is expanding its product range for photovoltaic installations with a new junction box. The four-rail Solarlok is suitable for automatedmass production, resulting in shorter assembly time and lower costs for crystalline solarmodule manufacture.
Not only can users opt for
automated ormanual assembly, which is useful during the transition phase to an automated production line, they can also automate the flash test procedure, enhancing test reliability.
Furthermore, Solarlok
promises to enhance the performance and service life of a photovoltaic systemby protecting connection quality. Plug contacts are protected fromdust andmoisture throughout assembly for optimummating safety.
Finally, the new design
prevents improper use. Cable exits aremounted at an angle of 45 degrees, making it impossible for installers to use the cables as a handle to carry the panels.
Two junction boxes are
available: a clamped version and a soldered one.
