TECHCLEAN: Richard Samarasinghe, Operations Director
Techclean specialises in IT cleaning services, which
involves cleaning equipment such as monitors,
keyboards and offi ce-based equipment
“Computers and keyboards are primary harbourers of germs, especially
with people eating at their desks. Contract cleaners do not clean it
equipment.

“the service prevents cross contamination, helps it equipment be
productive for a longer period of time, and looks after employee welfare –
when an offi ce and working equipment is clean, people work more effi ciently.
“Every company will have a data centre, which must be kept clean and
sterile at all times. We also provide a deep cleaning service for this. We’ve
recently employed a national account sales manager to source new business.
they will hand over leads to the franchisees.”
MOLLY MAID: Angela Lofthouse
Single mum of three, Angela is now in her fi fth year of
running a Molly Maid franchise in Chesterfi eld
“Molly Maid stood out from the rest because of its very professional
appearance. the people were friendly, i liked its presentation and overall
i had a good feeling about it. i did look at other franchises but kept on
coming back to cleaning as it’s a service that people will always want.
“the early days were tough as my children were aged 13, 11 and
fi ve at the time, so balancing home life with starting a business was not
easy. i was working until seven or eight at night, but i was always there
for my kids. Having said that, without Molly Maid i don’t know where i’d
be today.
“i launched myself into the business fully and now i have an extra
member of staff, sue, in the offi ce to help with customer service and
enquiries. i still phone customers, deal with new quotes – where we
meet people directly – and quality control.
“i do all of the marketing of the business, where full guidance is
provided. it was really important to push the business in the early days.
People know who Molly Maid is in Chesterfi eld. All the advertising that
we did paid off – we had jobs to do within weeks!”
NEW CITY: Paul Davies
After a career in health and social care, Paul bought his
commercial cleaning New City franchise at the end of
April 2010
“it has been hard work, but the rewards are there. My other
motivation for doing this is the business will act as a pension pot. i
knew i couldn’t go any further in my local authority job.
“My advice to anyone exploring franchising is to investigate the
franchise as much as possible, don’t take everything at face value, have
as many meetings with the franchisees as possible – it is a big decision
and needs to be right for you.
“Also make sure you have a substantial amount of funding behind
you – at least three months worth of salary.”
