The charging committee kept busy in Billings
MORE THAN 800 PERSONAL ELECTRONIC DEVICES WERE CHARGED OVER the course of the BMW MOA International Rally in Billings, Montana, this sum- mer. Nothing was lost or damaged, and all items left to be charged were picked up by their owners before the building closed on Saturday. This year, the Charg- ing Station was also responsible for keeping all portable radios used by Commit- tee Chairs charged. Charging Committee Chairs
Ross and Jean Copas said the Charging Station was staffed well by enthusiastic volunteers throughout the rally. Ross and Jean offer special thanks to Ed Gullo for devising an ingenious color coding system that made the charging process more effi- cient and to the members of BMW Motorcycle Club of Ontario who were always there to help.
Rally First Aid Recap
By Hank Pfister and Jonny Volk, First Aid Co-chairs
MORE THAN 119 RALLY GOERS
requested first aid, with the most common ailments treated including blisters, cuts and abrasions, insect bites and ankle injuries. Vital sign checks were also provided. Rov- ing First Aid volunteers aboard golf carts also kept rally goers hydrated by distribut- ing bottled water. Thank you to the group of 35 volunteers
who helped provide first aid services and took great care of our MOA family during our stay at the MetraPark in Billings. We look forward to seeing you next year in Hamburg.
Smooth sailing at registration
THE RALLY REGISTRATION TEAM wishes to thank all the volunteers for their help with registration at the BMW MOA International Rally in Billings, Montana. The registration process was a great success due to your efforts and commitment. In the registration area. we greeted
riders as they arrived, scanned their rally tickets or input contact informa- tion and distributed wrist bands, rally books and door prize tickets.. We also spent time with all riders to explain rally activities and locations and were truly the “front end” of the Rally which helped set the tone for rally- goers’ great rally experience. Process improvements continued

this year with the introduction of another automated check-in line for a total of three, one for scanning tickets of preregistered attendees, a second automated line for MOA members who did not preregister and a third for non-MOA non-registered attendees. Individual registration there took the longest because of the time needed to complete a registration form and then typing all pertinent information into the ticketing system. After ticketing and scan- ning, all attendees received the same excel- lent treatment by the volunteers at the document tables. Only on Wednesday when attendees began arriving at registra- tion at 6:30 a.m., was there a waiting line. Every other days the waiting lines were minimal because of the increased process
flow and ticketing system improvements. More than 185 volunteers signed up to
help via our team’s registration volunteer website (
eventbright.com). They chose the day and shifts they wanted to work and received a volunteer confirmation of their choice. Another 25 volunteers came to help us when we called the Rally Volunteer Booth. Thank you for the additional help. In total, more than 210 volunteers assisted in setup on Tuesday and Wednesday and to actually process registrants on Wednesday afternoon through Saturday. Day passes on Saturday were successful with more than 150 sold. Thank you again.
