eligibility. That achievement couldn’t have happened without the expertise of Coach Veronica Graves.” In Hailey’s second season in Spring of
2016, she and Coach Graves knew Nationals was a hurdle she could get over and achieve. Posting her best time, and just a half-second away from qualifying for Nationals, she had one race left, a week before Nationals to qualify. “Before the race I just prayed. God this is
in your hands. If I am suppose to go let it be, if not it’s been a great four seasons of track.” At that point Hailey stopped focusing on it and ran her best race, giving Him all the praise of making it to Nationals in her final season. “I had to let go of the thought of I have to
go to Nationals, and rather leaving it up to I want to go to Nationals but it’s in the Lord’s hands,” Parkhouse-McAllister said. In her final cross country season the next
milestone was laid out before her at the beginning of the season at the team retreat
at the Tahoe National Park. The team goes on a week retreat to the mountains to bond and grow closer as a team and relationally to Christ. “I’ve always connected with Him most on runs, or on hikes or camping,” Hailey said. “I sense Him more, escaping the world for that moment. I knew I needed to be baptized there.” Pakerhouse-McAllister was baptized in
Kidd Lake with her cross country family by head coach Daniells and Jessup’s Director of Church Relations, Jim Jessup. Hailey believes she is a light to her family,
and that Jessup has filled a role in many aspects she had been missing. She credits her peers and teachers for instilling in her a confidence to overcome many obstacles and push hard to achieve her goal in anything she put her mind to. “I am very proud of Hailey and her
spiritual transformation that has happened here at Jessup,” said Coach Daniells. “She sought out change for herself and continued
to go through trial in her two years here but through her resilience, she finally recognized doing it alone does not work. The change that happened within her here at Jessup was not from one person's doing but a group of individuals spiritually feeding and challenging her to grow and through God's hand, she saw God's faithfulness.” But most importantly she gives thanks to
her coaches, such as Daniells that taught her that if you are not spiritually fed, the rest of your life isn’t going to be where it needs to be, or could be. “Parker by far is one of the best coaches I have ever had,” Parkhouse- McAllister acclaimed. “He worries more about our relationship with Christ than he does with our running.” Hailey will transition into student
teaching in the fall and looks forward to taking all she has learned into the mission field of elementary school.
