Core Removal Jenfab, Berlin, Connecticut,


shared its new nondestructive core removal system, the VCC-FSR Series which performs complete removal of sand and core debris from internal sections and passages of castings. It is a nondestructive process that eliminates the possibil- ity of casting damage. It provides a clean atmosphere for core removal without the noise of core knockout machines. Operators are not in close proximity to smoke, fumes, sand or airborne particulates typical in pneumatic hammer core removal processes.


Nobake Sand Resin Fairmount Santrol, Benton


Harbor, Michigan, showcased its new nobake resin, Epsilon-SD, a three part phenolic urethane nobake (PUNB) resin system that sig- nificantly reduces VOCs and HAPs compared to conventional PUNB systems with higher strengths. The resin system in nobake sand molding is what keeps the sand together in shape with the necessary strength to hold up to molten metal. Epsilon- SD requires no new investment in equipment or changes in production practices and can be used with new or reclaimed sand.


Inorganic Sand Binder ASK Chemicals, Dublin, Ohio,


displayed a BMW N20 cylinder head produced using its Inotec inorganic binder technology. Te inorganic binder boasts no environmentally harmful emissions or unpleasant odors. It also can reduce sand adhe- sions and penetrations and improves thermal stability for better dimen- sional accuracy.
