Waupaca CEO Gigante Retiring, to be Replaced by Nikolai Waupaca Foundry, Waupaca, Wis-
consin, announced that CEO Gary Gigante is retiring eff ective June 30 and will be replaced by current COO and president Mike Nikolai, who will eff ectively take over as CEO on July 1. Gigante has served as CEO since 2007 and began at the company as a metallurgist in 1981. Nikolai joined Waupaca, a Hitachi
Metals company, in 1993 as a metal- lurgist and has gained more respon- sibility with each new position. He’s been a production manager, assistant plant manager, and vice president of operations before being named presi- dent and COO on April 1, 2015. Not only is Gigante retiring, but also announcing his retirement is executive vice president of sales and marketing Kris Pfaehler, who will be
SATA to Place Manufacturing Facility in South Texas
Italian manufacturer SATA Group
will build a new machining plant in Brownsville, Texas. T e project on a 350-acre parcel of land is expected to create 300 jobs and bring a $114 million investment from SATA, which manufactures machined parts for Caterpillar, John Deere and major automakers. By 2020, it’s expected the facil-
ity will house a vertically integrated operation with machining, forging and metalcasting. Plans include an aluminum diecasting operation, along with a plastic injection molder, distribution center and apprenticeship training center. “Our level of quality and superior
manufacturing productivity created a global demand for our machined prod- ucts and services,” said Pietro Cinotto, vice president, SATA USA. “It grew to the point where it
made sense for us to enter the North American market and that’s when Brownsville, Texas, came into our site selection process. T e overwhelming support helped us make the decision to settle in Brownsville.”

succeeded by executive vice president John Wiesbrock. Pfaehler joined Waupaca Foundry
in 2007 after holding executive sales and business development positions
in the automotive industry. Wiesbrock joined Waupaca in 2002 and has held positions in sales, operations, and supply chain management.
