• T e component was required to support early mechanical develop- ment testing for a high performance marine powertrain.
• To meet the short timeframe, 3D printing was utilized to make sand molds for the prototype. Heavy use of computer aided engineering was es- sential to accomplish casting that was right the fi rst time to avoid the high cost of development using 3D printed sand molds.
