Is Asos connecting with beauty platforms Cult & Feelunique?

UK Online fashion and beauty retailer Asos is said to be mulling a takeover of Cult Beauty and Feelunique. According to a report by Sky News, the prospect of buying the pure play beauty platforms, which have been put up for sale by their current owners, is a possibility but uncertain, and it is likely that just one of the two targets will be pursued.

A purchase of either

would cement Asos’ position as a competitive beauty player.

If Asos is to be successful in securing one of the multi- million pound businesses, it will have to fend off competition from THG Holdings, parent company of The Hut Group, and German e-commerce group Zalando, who are also thought to be interested in making an offer for the beauty sites.

LUSH ANNOUNCES SUPPORT FOR THE BLACK CURRICULUM CAMPAIGN

UK Lush has signalled its support of The Black Curriculum’s #TBH365 campaign with a new limited-edition product and shop window displays. L’Oréal dodges Olaplex payout

US L’Oréal looks set to avoid paying a multi- million dollar sum in damages to hair care rival Olaplex.

The United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit vacated a final judgement awarding Olaplex US$66m, including attorney’s fees, for trade secrets

misappropriation, breach of a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) and patent infringement. In December 2020, a US judge told L’Oréal that it could not have a new trial to avoid payment to Olaplex, amounting to nearly $50m in damages and $14m in legal fees and costs incurred by Olaplex.

But last month, on 6 May, the Court of Appeals concluded that no reasonable jury could have found that L’Oréal misappropriated a trade secret or used

confidential Olaplex information in violation of the NDA.
