PROVITAL OFFERS MILD SKIN RENEWAL VIA ARTISAN HONEY & PHAS Provital is entering the realm of polyhydroxy acids with its new mild exfoliant Apibreeze. Polyhydroxy acids, or PHAs, are a new generation of hydroxy acids that are suitable for creating skin peels for even the most sensitive of skins. Apibreeze is 100% of natural origin and offers mild skin

renewal and ethical supply; it combines COSMOS compliant biotech-derived PHAs with an award-winning multi-flower honey produced in the Albera Natural Park by the sixth generation of artisan beekeepers. Provital www.weareprovital.com

CLARIANT TACKLES SENESCENCE WITH CELYSCENCE Clariant Active Ingredients has introduced a cellular senescence preventer extracted from milk thistle flower. Senescent fibroblasts can trigger unhealthy skin. They are highly resistant to ‘cell death’ (apoptosis) and impair biological repair functions, even secreting molecules that turn surrounding cells senescent. Celyscence pushes senescent cells to apoptosis and alleviates their side effects by downregulating their secretion of molecules. Clariant www.clariant.com

VYTRUS BIOTECH ENHANCES VITAMIN D PRODUCTION During lockdown, many consumers struggled with vitamin D deficiency. Now, Vytrus Biotech has launched Nectaria Lithops, a cosmetic active ingredient that boosts the production of vitamin D by epidermal cells. This results in skin which is strengthened, revitalised, volumised and glowing: it’s a look that Vytrus Biotech terms ‘D-Skin’. Nectaria Lithops, derived

from the plant Lithops pseudotruncatella, optimises the skin microenvironment to stimulate vitamin D production. Vytrus Biotech www.vytrus.com

BRB INTRODUCES D5 ALTERNATIVES In response to stringent SVHC (substance of very high concern) limits on clyclopentasiloxane (D5) in leave-on applications, BRB has upgraded its existing range of D5 alternatives with low cyclic level options, namely BRB DM 55 and BRB 1417 (LC).

These additions, says BRB, which are based on linear polydimethylsiloxane with very low viscosity, provide the same emolliency and similar volatile profiles as D5.

CRODA UNVEILS MICRON-SIZED ZINC OXIDE FOR TRANSPARENT SUNSCREENS Croda has introduced a new solution combining the benefits of micron-sized zinc oxide (ZnO) with ‘unrivalled’ transparency on skin. The Solaveil MicNo range of powders and dispersions is based on patented platelet- shaped structures that ensure particles are large enough to be suitable for natural and COSMOS approved formulations, while also being transparent on skin. This transparency makes them suitable for a wide range of end applications and skin phototypes. Croda www.croda.com
