ed and ready for anything

shoot well because the spring mechanismcauses vibrations, which is non-existent with even themost powerful of PCPs.Tis makes PCPs easy to shoot well. Teir fixed-barrel

configuration also adds to their ability to produce tiny groups. Tis ability for pinpoint accuracy is the reason why somany dedicated airgun hunters and target shooters prefer PCPs above anything else.

INNEED OFAREFILL?

All one needs is compressed air – not CO2 by the way – just clean, breathable compressed air, to make a PCP work. Basically, there are three tools

to fill up your air rifle’s reservoir. Te first are hand pumps. Although the process of filling up a PCP with a hand pump can be a bit tiring, these are great to have around because they never run out of air and are easily transportable.

Scuba tanks are next.Tese are

quite heavy to carry and need to be refilled at a dive shop, yet are really easy to refill your airgun, requiring zero physical effort. Along with scuba tanksmade

ofmetal, carbon fibre tanks are far lighter, have the same advantages as scuba tanks, yet carry a heavier price tag. So how long can you shoot

a PCP before needing to refill it with compressed air?Tis depends on several variables, such as the volume of the reservoir, maximumfill pressure, calibre, valve return spring strength, hammer weight and so on. Taking all these variables in to account, typically PCPs usually get 20 to 50 shots per fill… sometimes even a lotmore.

AIR REGULATORS

It is a well-known fact that shot-to-shot consistency in PCP air rifles can differ because of the pressure variations in the

compressed air reservoir during the shooting cycle. To get themost accuracy and

shot-to-shot consistency out of PCP airguns, air regulators have become all the rage.Tese manage the pressure for the firing valves, always giving them the same pressure. An air regulator adds to the

price of a PCP rifle but the beauty is that you always get consistent power and accuracy shot after shot after shot.Tat is,until the reservoir’s pressure drops to a point where the regulator no longer functions optimally and your gun needs a refill. Regulators can be adjusted

as well.Te all-new Benjamin Marauder Field andTarget Edition, for example, features an adjustable, quick-change regulator that allows users to simply turn a dial to choose between the target setting for maximumshot count and shot- to-shot consistency, or the field

setting formaximumdownrange energy for hunting. Tis regulator design allows

users to turn it on to optimise shot-to-shot velocity and maximise shot count, or turn it off andmaximise energy for hunting occasions. Shooters can get up to 70

regulated shots with the .177 calibre gun and up to 50 with the .22 calibreMarauder Field and Target Edition.

ITALLADDSUP

A PCP air rifle is a great choice for those wanting to enjoy pinpoint accuracy, quietness, minimal recoil while still having the possibility of sheer power and multiple shot capacity. Inmany parts of the world,

PCP rifles have taken the place of the venerable .22 rimfire, where shooters use it for everything fromplinking to hunting, pest control and target shooting.
