his year’s SHOT Show in Las Vegas,USA, surpassed


last year in terms of attendance numbers,making it the second largest ever,with almost 65,000 visitors through its doors during one week in January. Owned and operated by


the US firearms industry body theNational Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the packed aisles signalled a positive year ahead for the trade. At one of the show’s biggest


events, theNSSF State of the IndustryDinner on the first day, NSSF president and CEOSteve Sanetti, in a speech titled ‘ANew Hope’, listed a series of priorities that the industry will focus on to help protect its future and that of its customers. He said: “Our overriding hope


is that when it comes to helping stop themisuse of firearms by criminals and preventing access to themby legally prohibited felons, the violentlymentally ill and the drug gangs who terrorise disarmed inhabitants of our

cities, the American public will realise we are all on the same side.”


NEWGEARAT THE CENTRE


Tere were thousands of products for buyers to see on the show floor, encompassing firearms, ammunition, accessories, optics, knives, gun safes, apparel and law enforcement equipment, among other categories. More than 500 new products


from338 companies were on display in theNew Product Centre, sponsored by US Concealed Carry Association. In addition to themore than


1,600 exhibiting companies on themain show floors, the NEXT 2.0 Pavilion provided first-time vendors fromthe show’s extensive waiting list with welcome visibility and potential new customers. SHOT Show is the largest


trade show of its kind in the world, attracting attendees from more than 100 countries. ChrisDolnack,NSSF


senior vice-president and chief marketing officer, revealed: “I think we’ve arrived at a point where we’re truly balancing the needs of an enormous crowd of industry professionals with the venue and services they need to successfully set the course of their businesses for themonths ahead. “Tat’s not a small feat and


we are pleased to see that our efforts to produce a continuously high-quality show has once again paid off.”

Te show drew excellent reviews fromexhibitors and attendees alike. JanMladek of Smith&


Wesson said: “SHOT is always a great opportunity to showcase our product line.Our traffic numbers were huge and I think we reached a record number of people this year.” Matt Allbritton ofDaniel


Defense revealed that celebrity appearances at its booth were a huge draw for them.

As the curtain came down on the 39th Shooting,Hunting and Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show, the stage is set for another buoyant year for the firearms industry.
