Compact Atlas Copco model

Atlas Copco has launched the compact QLB 60 lighting tower which is targeted at users in the event and construction industries. The machine has LED lights with optics that are

designed to deliver high levels of illumination from a unit with a small footprint. The four 350W lamps are claimed to give better coverage than typically offered by 1000W metal halide lights. The QLB 60 is also said to produce up to 75% less carbon dioxide than a traditional lighting

tower, and it can be set to operate automatically using a weekly timer and an integral photocell that detects low levels of ambient light. Atlas Copco says that the machine’s compact dimensions enable 22 units to be loaded on to a 13m truck.

MHM is confident that its re-hire business can enable hire companies to benefit from lighting tower demand in the coming months, without having to invest in new equipment for their fleets. It offers new and used Towerlight machines, and hirers can either re-hire them, hold machines as a local stockist and hire them out as necessary, or re-sell them, and the company says it helps by listing typical prices that can be achieved. It adds that its contract hire scheme is proving particularly popular, whereby hirers can re-hire machines to customers for long-term projects, and adds that it is already receiving enquiries for the contract hire of lighting towers for next summer, from hirers responding to the needs of event and festival organisers.

Hire Supply Co (HSC) has considerably expanded its line-up of LED lights, with models from 8W to 60W. The company says that advances in technology means that the latest versions can now give the same light output as fluorescent and traditional GLS lamps, while using considerably less electricity, and with a claimed working life of up to 11 years if used 12 hours a day. The range also includes a wide variety of fluorescent lights from 24W to 220W, as well as tungsten halogen units. The company’s heating equipment range includes various models from Master Climate Solutions. The BLP17M battery-powered propane heater has now been re-named as the Tundra. The compact machine can be set up quickly in areas without a convenient electricity supply. Overall, the heating line-up comprises domestic, commercial and industrial models from 2kW up to 220kW, and also includes HSC’s own brand of Elite quartz halogen heaters.
