Saltex on new ground
We preview a selection of grounds care products to be launched at IOG Saltex, being held at its new NEC location on 4 and 5 November.
Latest Makita models
Makita will show its latest grounds care products, including models powered by its MM4 four-stroke engine, designed for low levels of emissions and vibration, as well as reduced fuel consumption. Recent additions include a pole hedge trimmer that extends to 2.55m, a back-pack leaf blower, 43cc hand-held brush cutters and a back-pack brush cutter. The company will also give details of its range of more than 500 cordless, mains and petrol tools. Versions are available that use Makita’s latest twin 18V
battery system to give 36V power, including a 26mm rotary hammer drill; 190mm circular saw, six-speed blower, lawn mower, line and brush cutters and a 30cm bar top handled chainsaw.
Cobras to be released
Henton & Chattell’s will show the latest additions to its Cobra range of garden machinery, which includes models powered by petrol and Lithium-ion batteries. Amongst the new cordless products is the MX46S40V lawnmower, a self-propelled unit that gives a 46cm cutting width and a mowing height of between 25mm and 75mm. Also available is the MX4140V, a push-along model that gives a 41cm width of cut. In addition, equipment from Billy Goat Industries will be on display, including four new Plugr turf aerators.
Stihl to launch cordless additions
Stihl will display new additions to its range of cordless grounds care tools. It can also be powered by the AR 3000 back-pack battery, which is designed to provide up to 160 minutes of operating time from a single charge. The stand line-up will also include the FSA 90 brushcutter, which is available from this month. Designed for tackling large areas of grass, it has motor bike-style handles and its 36V Lithium-ion battery provides nearly 40 minutes of running time. Also available is the FSA 90R, which has loop handles.
Saltex visitors will also be able to inspect the new BR 450 back-pack blower, which is powered by Stihl’s 2-Mix engine.
