Editor’s Letter

What a fantastic month we’ve had here at Skip Hire Magazine Heights. To say it’s been eventful is an understatement. Our second W.A.S.T.E Show was a huge success.

We would like to say a massive thank you to all of our exhibitors, without you the show wouldn’t have been possible. We would also like to thank the experts for taking

part in our live debate – Jenny Watts from UROC, Harvey Bradshaw from the EA, Chris James from

WAMITAB, John Galvin from Defra and Steve Lee from the CIWM. We believe that bringing the experts together provides not only a platform for discussion, but gives the sector a voice and representation. Our sponsors also deserve a special mention, as their support has been invaluable,

so a huge thank you to Hadfield Wood Recyclers, Pakawaste, Glosta Engineering and Stock Sweepers. This month’s issue is packed with news from the world of skips. We believe we

really have met the most skip-mad family in Britain, who replaced their traditional wedding car with, you’ve guessed it… a skip! We meet a skip company who provided the location for a sex pistols advert and lots of kind-hearted skip companies have been getting involved in raising thousands for various charities. We also caught up with British designer, Alexander Taylor who tells us about the

Adidas running shoe made of ocean plastic he collaborated on, which was recently presented at a UN Summit on a discussion of the future of the oceans. Our features this month include contributions from Ainsley Fraser on hook and skip

loaders, Alison Hegarty talks about tree felling safety, BSIA look at perimeter security, Jenny Watts from UROC responds to Bedding In, WAMITAB discuss compliance in waste and resource management and Enviroman talks about the impact of legislation in the waste industry. We also take a look at shredders and consumables as part of your waste and recycling business. And, finally… Debbie and I were kindly invited to

Eindhoven to the VDL Headquarters, where we were shown the production process of hook and skip loaders. The hospitality from Dik and Roland was second-to-none and in true Skip Hire Mag style, we recruited one of them to be a Skip Hunk to introduce a bit of Dutch delight for the mag. All will be revealed…
