New horizons for Hitachi
Since Hitachi opened its first air conditioning factory in Shimizu in 1944 it has been a pioneer, achieving a number of air conditioning ‘world firsts’ with a rich history of air conditioning innovation for more than 70 years.

n 2015, Johnson Controls Hitachi Air Conditioning was established as a joint venture between Hitachi Appliances Inc and Johnson Controls Inc where two 100-year old histories came together to create one new company servicing its combined customers with one of the most diverse product portfolios in the air conditioning industry.
Johnson Controls Hitachi Air Conditioning Europe SAS incorporates all activities for air conditioning and heating products, including sales, manufacture and service operations across all European markets.
Headquartered in France, it has regional offices in Germany, Ireland, Italy, Russia, Spain and the UK. From its 40,000m2
purpose-built
manufacturing facility near Barcelona, Spain, over 250 staff produce more than 70,000
environmentally responsible indoor, outdoor and chiller products each year.
Even more importantly for the joint venture business, its Central European facility helps reduce its carbon footprint, minimise production costs, speed up delivery times and provide full customer support to its customer base throughout Europe.
For the benefit of its global customers, and to provide additional production capacity, it also has manufacturing facilities in Japan, China and Malaysia, which enables Hitachi to deliver on its promise of ‘quality engineering for tomorrow’. Hitachi’s product range features renewable energy air source heat pumps, ventilation and energy efficient air conditioning products suitable for domestic, commercial and industrial heating and cooling applications, many of which

are supplied with a five year warranty. Hitachi’s dedicated heating team has been getting its range of Yutaki air source heat pump products in front of both domestic and key trade audiences at a number of trade shows as well as a permanent space at The National Self Build and Renovation Centre (NSBRC) in Swindon. The heat pump models are designed and built in Europe and tailor-made for the UK market.
Since joining Hitachi last October, managing director Gboyega Obafemi has made it his mission to focus on areas where the UK/Ireland market can deliver growth to the business and real benefits to customers and end-users. Part of that mission is proactively marketing Hitachi’s product training programmes to
